Domestic Violence and Consequences

Domestic violence has serious physical psychological and social consequences on the victim. The first one, physical violence: Includes injuries of all types: injuries, wounds, burns, forced sex, sexually transmitted diseases, risk pregnancies, abortions, and deaths. According to Teletica in 2010 the number of women killed by their partners was increased until 36 deaths. The second one the psychological aspect cause a lot of problems in the person who lives in this environment such as: depression, suicide attempts, abuse of alcohol, psychotropic drugs, sexual dysfunction, and using violence on their own children. Psychologist Steven Stosny, PH.D., based in Germantown, Maryland, argues that battering also does terrible things to batterers themselves. “You can’t hurt someone you love and feel good about yourself. The brain´s not designed that way”, says Stosny. The last one, but no less important is related to social involves social isolation that causes deleterious to health; the magnitude of risk associated with social isolation is comparable with that cigarette smoking and other major biomedical and psychosocial risk factor. In conclusion, the domestic violence must be controlled in order to warrantee the social well being.
